Make mental health & well-being for all a global priority

Someone somewhere today is grappling with ways to deal with something. It could be a tough decision to make, a difficult relationship at home or work, an upsetting news event  –  or perhaps it’s a situation that has caused a ripple in their everyday existence. One of these might describe the kind of day you’re having yourself.

While we can try to look for solutions and work our way through crossroads like these, an  underlying key to determining how we manage them is our mental health.

In recent years, mental health and well-being on a global level has been challenged on a number of fronts. Continuing stigma and discrimination, the Covid-19 pandemic, the consequence of wars, the climate emergency and the ever-increasing cost of living are just a few examples.

World Mental Health Day, commemorated every year on October 10th since 1992, provides an opportunity for the global community to work together and share initiatives, to help people “feel hopeful by empowering them to take action and create lasting change”.

The theme of the 2022 World Mental Health Day is Make mental health & well-being for all a global priorityand you too can take action!

How can YOU get involved?

How can Altura Learning support World Mental Health Day?

  • Our home care course Mental Health: Living with a Condition looks at bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and the effects of these long term mental health conditions on individuals.  Through interviews with experts and people living with these conditions, the course helps learners recognise the signs and symptoms and explains how to provide appropriate support and maintain safety.
  • Our residential course Mental Health: Anxiety Disorders identifies different types of common anxiety disorders and explores how to support someone who lives with this condition.
